President Donald Trump has named Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro as the new interim U.S. Attorney for D.C. The announcement came after Trump pulled his nomination for conservative activist Ed Martin.

A recurring gag for Strong’s impersonation of Pirro would be to spit wine in the face of Colin Jost during the “Weekend Update” segment. A first it seemed like the joke wouldn’t be revisited but Jost also made a cameo in the cold open, where he played defence secretary Pete Hegseth, who Strong’s Pirro said was her “old drinking buddy”.

Acting U.S. Attorney Ed Martin was being interviewed by Newsmax on Thursday, shortly after President Donald Trump withdrew his nomination to permanently serve as the lead prosecutor in Washington, D.C.
