２１日に死去したローマ教皇フランシスコの葬儀が２６日、バチカン市のサンピエトロ広場で行われ、世界の指導者や王室、多くの弔問客が参列した。ローマ教皇庁によると、信者ら約２０万人も広場周辺に集まり、教皇に最後の別れを告げた。

本名はホルヘ・マリオ・ベルゴリオ。1936年12月17日、アルゼンチンでイタリア系移民の息子として生まれ、21歳のときに肺炎にかかり生死をさまよう経験をしました。大学で化学の学位を取得した後、司祭になるための勉強を始めました。
