Train collision in Fremont, Ohio, results in two fatalities and one child critically injured, with another child missing.

Norfolk Southern expressed condolences after a train struck a family on a Fremont rail bridge, resulting in three deaths and the injury of a toddler.

FREMONT, Ohio — A mother and daughter were killed, a 5-year-old child was thrown into the Sandusky River and a 14-month-old was rushed to the hospital after being struck by a train on or near a train bridge in Fremont on Sunday evening, according to Fremont Mayor Danny Sanchez. The incident took place near the Miles Newton Bridge around 7 p.m.

Pedestrians were reportedly involved in a Fremont train crash Sunday evening. Emergency crews are now at the scene.

A family of four was hit by a train on a railroad bridge in Fremont. The train hit the two adults and two children around 7 p.m. Sunday. Authorities said the family was from Fort Wayne and was in Fremont on a fishing trip.

A 26-year-old Guffey woman died in an accident Saturday, according to Fremont County Coroner Randy Keller on Monday. Emily Mason of Guffey died in a single-vehicle crash at about 10:25 a.m.

The collision happened around 7 p.m. on Sunday on the Miles Newton Bridge near Hayes Avenue. David Greenberg reports from Fremont.
